Work Force Prepares Juniors for Jobs
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019 The Work Force Youth Program conducted mock interviews and networking for all of our participants in 11th grade. Members of the local business community volunteer their time to conduct short interviews with our students based on one or two hypothetical job offering. After each round of interview, volunteers evaluate each participants interview skills using a matrix developed by Work Force. The feedback is shared the following week with participants during their regular workshop time. Participants use this feedback to strengthen their interviewing and networking skills.
After the interviews participants and volunteers partake in a mock networking sessions where participants are encouraged to “work the room,” gathering information about the employers and professionals in the room, collect business cards, and share information about their own skills and interests.
This annual fun and engaging event is not possible without the generous contribution of time from our partners. This year we want to thank volunteers from MIT, Google, Spaulding Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Eastern Bank, City of Cambridge, the YMCA, Children’s Services of Roxbury, Serepta Therapeutics, Specialized Housing Inc., and MAB Community Services.
